Pleased to Meet You
First of all, thanks for visiting my site!
Secondly, let me introduce myself… my name is Elmari. I recently resettled in my native South Africa after spending nearly four years living and working as a crew member at sea.
Though I’ve dedicated the name of my site to my past, this blog is dedicated to providing you with neat tips for those things we all struggle with – from health to finances – along with some kick-ass travel tips, and my (sometimes controversial) opinion on life and current events.
So who am I, exactly (other than a former cruise ship employee)? I am a freelance writer, editor, and designer living in the beautiful town of Robertson, South Africa. I love to travel, hang out with friends, taste some new wines, and spend hours with my family. And I especially love writing about it!
I believe that travel blogs should be (and are) more than city guides or lists to guarantee successful trips; travel blogs have the power to inspire each of us, to let us dream of someday seeing a new part of the world, and the power to let us feel that even when we haven’t set a foot in a place, we still got a pretty good feeling and understanding of the culture and heart of that destination. You see, while not all of us get to travel, we all have the opportunity to see and experience the world through the work of dedicated writers. I hope that this is exactly what Shippie on Land will offer her readers!
A man travels the world over in search of what he needs and returns home to find it. — George A. Moore
